A novel that brings little known details about the migration of Cubans to Miami, who to maintain their identity in exile contributed to the development of television in Spanish in the United States and preserved the essence of Cuban cuisine. "Bacon from Heaven" weaves two stories. In the first one, we find Pedro Alonso, and Austrian who arrived in Havana in the early twentieth century work in the shop of his uncle. With a tenacious character, he saves money to return to his hometown. Alonso, however, builds a new life in his adopted country filled with political and social upheavals due to the successions of dictatorships and changes in Cuban government. At the same time, Bethlehem, a humble black cook who protects the essence of traditional Cuban dishes and desserts despite the threat of food rationing by the government.
