Description:

Very comforting & fun read. Simply the story of a guy fresh out of the Korean Conflict in the late 1950's that goes to Britan, buys a yacht and sails with his good friend and sometimes with folks he picks up a long the way. The book highlights the local culture and escapades that that are found in small seaports along the coats of Spain, Portugal, Gibralter, & North Africa. I read this book at least once every two or three years and have done so for over twenty years. I find the simple, sometimes harrowing tales ofdeliberate hand to mouth existance and the calm and easygoing means of getting thoguh them almost inspiring. The book was my inspiration to buy my first boat many years ago.
