This text introduces students to an integrated approach to the nonlinearities that underlie some of the most crucial problems they encounter and provides them with cutting edge tools for their solution. The first eight chapters of the text normally require one semester of ordinary differential equations and an intermediate course in mechanics. The last three chapters assume the students have some familiarity with partial derivatives, and have encountered the wave, diffusion and Schrodinger equations; also that something is known about solving such equations.
