Description:

"Taken from the period 1951-2, these speeches cover Churchill's second premiership. His physical strength was failing at this time; he suffered a mild stroke in July 1952 and a more serious one a year later. Although not quite the man he had been in wartime, Churchill continued to grapple with the political issues of the day, including the death of King George VI, the rise of Eisenhower in America and the global instability resulting from the ongoing Cold War. However, Churchill found himself unable or unwilling to reverse the historic, socialist policies of the Attlee government, which he had so excoriated over the previous decade. Perhaps more importantly to Churchill, a settlement with Russia remained elusive, as did the goal which he had long sought: peace."--Bloomsbury Publishing.
