Description:

Neither crazy, nymphomaniac, prostitute, nor promiscuous, Carmen Mondragón (Mexico, 1893-1978), known as Nahui Olin, the beautiful green-eyed woman who modeled for Diego Rivera, Roberto Montenegro and Edward Weston, was also a painter, illustrator, cartoonist, and a writer of prose, essays and poetry. The book is an end product of ten years of work and for the first time reprints the five books that Mondragón wrote that were lost in oblivion and silence. The books: Óptica cerebral. Poemas dinámicos (1922), Tierna soy en el interior (1923), A los diez años en mi pupitre (1924), Nahui Olin (1927) and Energía cósmica (1937). The book also includes data on her artistic career, erotic paintings, unedited poems written originally in French; love and erotic letters dedicated to Dr. Atl (Gerardo Murillo), illustrations, cartoons, photographs and newspaper articles and reviews from the 1920s to the 1940s. She was one of those pioneers of Mexican culture who fought and paid a very high price for daring to challenge a patriarchal society because she bared her mind and her body.
