Description:
**Acadia's Hockey Axemen** is a soft-covered 274 page history of Acadia University's varsity hockey club, beginning from the year 1893 and concluding with the action of the 2011-2012 playoffs. The early chapters trace the history of the university itself and mention the trials and tribulations that faced this small institution of education as it went through serious financial situations and the devastation caused by fires to major buildings. Early key personnel are introduced and their contributions to the growth and development of Acadia are related in detail. Historical facts and anecdotes associated with early sports such as football , tennis, track and field and gymnastics which preceded the introduction of ice hockey are presented. The history of Acadia's famed " Hockey Axemen" includes plenty of statistical information, anecdotes and 47 black and white and colored picture pages of teams, individualls and action action shots. Special emphasis is placed on the winning of provincial, Maritime and Atlantic and certainly the capturing of Canadian championships in the 1992-93 and 1995-96 seasons.
