One young man, Lee, has a dream to fight for his country as a spy at the height of the Cold War in the late-1950s and the other is Sparky, a nightclub owner with aspirations of being a good earner for the Mafioso. The way their dreams crossed, tangled, and changed American history is The Patriotic Assassins. Author Eric Stannard meticulously researched official police and FBI files, court transcripts, historical records from various government agencies, archives of film, television, and radio reports, as well as a multitude of other sources including historical archives of primary, secondary, and in some cases tertiary records. Mr. Stannard insists only two of the novel’s 63 chapters were fabricated but his overall intent was to give new insight to historical events.
