Alibi for a corpse

Description:

When two curious children find a skeleton in an abandoned car, the local police turn to Scotland Yard. Inspector Pollard and Sergeant Toye come to a beautiful, rural part of England where a bad-tempered recluse, a woman who may or may not be a witch, a menacing local farmer, and the children's father all have something to hide. With no identifying marks on the body and scant forensic evidence, Pollard and Toye have to piece together not just the why and how of a murder but also the "who" - and their investigation takes them in a wholly unexpected direction.
