This book looks at the characteristics and discovery of the unique fibrous minerals known as asbestos and then turn to a discussion of the major uses of these materials in the past. Individual asbestos-associated diseases are considered in detail from clinical, pathologic, and pathogenic perspectives in context of approaches to diagnosis and treatment. The authors also explore the history of regulatory efforts based on governmental actions, and the complex story of litigation related to asbestos-associated diseases in the United States.
