Softfoot is an American Indian of the Pawnee tribe. The story covers his early life and the life of his people. Softfoot becomes involved with the US Army's struggle with the Sioux tribe and the culmination is at the battle of The Little Bighorn where the 7th Cavalry, under Col Custer are defeated by the forces of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse.
