Description:
Exceptional. I have read it several times over the years. It is for adults as well as teens. It is one of the few works of fiction I've found set in the Dark Ages. Well researched. Author's note: Many U.S. citizens descend from the “Folk” who “wandered” south from far northern Europe and took up farming where the growing season was longer, such as in France. Even my college history courses said little about these ancestors of mine. They concentrated on better documented times. I wrote about the second generation of these migrants to Gaul as a way of learning about them. Martha Bennett Stiles
