Description:

The son of artist Johann Heinrich Roos (1631-1685) painted this remarkable Baroque piece of a variety of wild and domestic animals, the largest oil painting of his time featuring animals. It shows the menagerie of Karl, Landgraf zu Hessen-Kassel (1744-1836). The painting is an attraction in the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Castle Wilhelmshöhe.
