Peter Wilhelm Lund was one of the most important Danish naturalists of the 19th century. In 1832, he traveled to Brazil, then at the age of 31 years, and never returned to Denmark. In 10 years, he researched Brazilian limestone caves in the surroundings of Lagoa Santa, and its many findings and discoveries have led to completely new explanations for the emergence and evolution on Earth, flora, fauna and human beings. . He had an important contributor, the visionary Norwegian painter Peter Andreas Brandt. Brandt was indispensable to Lund in many ways, but the most notable were the incredibly beautiful and accurate illustrations he did for the pioneers of Lund. Presented in the book the sketchbook of Brandt, illustrating the work of Lund in the caves and contains the earliest representations of Lagoa Santa, in addition to a significant statement of their scientific designs. This book seeks to approach the life of A.P. Brandt for different angles.
