".since the "theme" for the anniversary celebration is "The Early History of Philiipsburg" we will confine our efforts to that periiod between 1797 to 1860, leaving the events and developments of more recent years for some future research worker to compile. However, a concise history of the schools, churches and other organizations will be found on other pages of this booklet, prepared by Miss Edna Miller, Rev. E.L. Pee and others, for use on this occasion. There is also an article on the history and development of the fire clay and refractories industries in this area, contributed through the courtesy of the Harbison-Walker Refractories Company, and prepared by their research engineer, Mr. J.
