This work discusses the act of drawing as it was used in Egyptian art and emphasizes that linear conception was the basis of both two and three dimensional design. It uses sketches, studies, and trials made by the ancient Egyptians to illustrate the direct and immediate qualities of what were generally preparations for more formal works.
