Description:

Pubisher description. To note the presence of the words 'canarias' and 'canario' in the world. According to Gómez, "sometimes that linguistic reference goes beyond history and geography, as in the emergence of the surname Canario in remote locations or the name of 'canary' for plants or animals in places where it is highly unlikely that Canary Islanders were present. But sometimes the language is left far behind the story, because the Canary Islanders have been called Canaries, as in the U.S. and Louisiana, in so many other places. And the term 'guanche [extinct language of the Islanders],' which itself certifies the presence of canaries, has not been the subject of our quest."
