Description:
Canopy tells the story of an isolated woman, born in the forest and breast-fed to maturity. This cuts her off from her father and leaves her vulnerable to emotional growth and sexual awareness. When the time comes to "leave the nest", Canopy is taken into the forest and left there to survive and thrive on her own. Without the normal background to understand what she's encountering, she interprets the world in a bizarre mix of fear, jealousy, and desire, meeting a cannibalistic farmer, a flute player with singing mermaids, and a faceless lover. She's left to create her own identity and face her own demons. Canopy must learn to interact with the world around her. During her encounters, we see brief interactions with her father and how his presence affects her world and her understanding of things.--publisher.
