"To evaluate mineral resources that may occur in the study areas, U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) investigated various sources of minerals information. Published literature and USBM files were reviewed; and claimants, prospectors, mine operators, and others having knowledge of mineral occurrences were interviewed to document areas of mineralization and mining activity. Mining claim records were searched at the Summit, Grand, and Clear Creek County Courthouses to provide a historical overview...Claim recordation files at the Bureau of Land Management State Office were searched...Mines, prospects, and mineralized areas were examined, mapped, and sampled during the field seasons from 1979-1982"--Leaf 3.
