Description:
Conmeorative exhibition of the 100 years of the birth of the cartoonist Mario Benedetti (Tacuarembó 1920-2009) consisting of a compilation of the covers of Mario Benedetti's books, caricatures made by national artists and posters, as well as an installation on the text "Los Desaparecidos". The exhibition -co-organized with the Benedetti Foundation- presents more than 400 covers of Benedetti's books and drawings by renowned cartoonists, such as Hogue, Ombu and Satbat, among others. A distinguished poet, storyteller, novelist, journalist, essayist, critic and with participations in theatre and cinema, Benedetti published more than 80 works and received several awards and tributes during his lifetime. His candor, sincerity and honesty present in his literature and poetry works "made him the prey of choice for many artists and cartoonists" who illustrated his books and other works.
