Description:
The Almo Collegio Borromeo is the oldest university college of merit in Italy and one of the most beautiful buildings in Lombardy. Founded in 1561 by St Charles Borromeo, it was established with the intention, pursued to this day, of offering particularly deserving students without sufficient economic means the opportunity to study at the University of Pavia. Today the College is an internationally recognized private foundation and a founding member of the Conference of University Colleges of Merit, accredited by the Ministry for Universities and Research, and the Pavia Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori, confederated with the Scuola Normale and Scuola Sant?Anna in Pisa. The Almo Collegio Borromeo hosts nearly 200 students (including undergraduates, master?s students and researchers) from all over the world. It offers a rich educational programme in the form of courses, seminars, workshops, concerts, theatrical performances and sports activities. It conducts conferences with notable personalities from the academic, political, cultural and business world and organizes numerous international exchanges.
