El presidio de San Pedro del Gallo (1685-1752)

Description:

Compilation of documents that illustrate history of military fort between 1687 and 1752 and of municipality that grew around it, in what is today state of Durango. Introductory study weaves together information from these sources into explanation of region's past for local residents and researchers. Documents include official reports, royal decrees on foundation of Presidio, lists of officers and soldiers stationed there, payroll accounts, and letters attesting to reasons for fort's abandonment. Edition limited to 500 copies.
