Description:
In the city of San Luis Potosí there are more than 150 murals of the Virgin of Guadalupe. While the majority are located in popular neighborhoods, in the middle and high class areas they do not exist, but there, the cult of the residents is intimate, that is, they have the image inside the home, as stated by José Guadalupe Rivera González, professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the UASLP. He argues that in the popular neighborhoods, the 'Morenita del Tepeyac' is painted because it represents the parochial feasts and the carnivals rooted in the daily life of that area. The great variety of techniques, materials and formats to paint the Virgin of Guadalupe is what stands out in the images that give body to this book. "Also present in the pages of the book, a brief selection of images of the Virgin painted in the format of ex-votos (votive offerings), a collection that the public can see in the Museum of the ExVotos of the temple of Nuestro Señor del Saucito (Parroquia del Santuario de Nuestro Señor de Burgos del Saucito,)."
