Description:

This book is the result of years of research by John Kulcsár - art professor and curator of national and international exhibitions - who had privileged access to documents and images of Ellis Island, New York's port island symbol of immigration to the United States early in the century, and to the collection of the Museum of Immigration of São Paulo, where he conceived a project that relates the two collections, portraying the experience of immigration in the United States and Brazil. Immigrant portraits is a privileged representation of fundamental moments in the history of humanity, bringing the record of people and families who left everything behind to immigrate, seek alternatives and opportunities to erect new communities with more tolerant, peaceful and democratic perspectives.
