Description:

The first part of the exhibition shows how Günter Grass handles the sinking of the "Wilhelm Gustloff" in his novella Im Kregsgang. It traces the literary forerunners in the complete oeuvre of the author and outlines the development of the book. Reviews and reactions from Germany as well as from Poland, Russia and Sweden highlight the reception of the novella. The second part of the exhibition presents reflections on the sinking of the "Wilhelm Gustloff" by contemporary artists from Poland, Russia, Germany and Sweden: works by Magnus Petersson, Jonas Dahm, Jörg Herold, Evgieni Umansky, Anna Steller and Hubert Czerepok.--
