This book is publication number seven in the series "Contributions from the U.S. National Fungus Collections". The work is arranged in four sections: the first section, vascular plant names, is a list of scientific names in alphabetical order by genus; the second is the common name index, which lists the common name followed by the scientific name; section three contains the important synonyms cross referenced to the accepted name; and the fourth lists the genera of vascular plants arranged by plant family. The plants listed are those of interest to plant pathologists and other agricultural scientists.
