Description:

A publication that brings together 150 paintings created by noted painters such as Camile Pissarro, Alirio Rodriguez, Arturo Michelena, Juan Lovera, Armando Reverón, Manuel Cabré, Jesús Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez amongst others and now part of the holdings of the National Art Gallery of Venezuela, selected for their significant and emblematic role in the formation process of Venezuelan art. The illustrated catalogue structured into three parts starts with a brief history of the visual arts in Venezuela, covering from the colonial and independence period, the 20th century and ending with the individualities, as representative sign of contemporary times. The introduction was written by the director of the GAN, art critic and poet Juan Calzadilla and includes a biographical review of the selected painters and a brief comment of each painting.
