Description:
Wanda Norstrom, who grew up in Chicago and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, was awarded a $1,500 scholarship upon graduation. This was announced in the Chicago Tribune on May 20, 1936. They also announced she was going to Africa to paint. This is a delightful work created from her notebooks and sketchbooks during her time in Africa. She was my aunt, and had a wonderful sense of humor, which comes across in some of the writings from her notebooks. Beautifully illustrated, this book was created by her longtime friend, Georgiana Peacher, after she passed away. It is a great tribute and well-written legacy to a wonderful friend.
