Description:

For a balanced introduction to art, a dual approach is really needed. First, a consideration of the elements of form, design, and technique, and these elements are addressed in part one. Secondly, a historical survey of art as it reflects the stylistic evolution and development of these elements, in broad strokes, with representative works of art and artists selected for aesthetic and historical importance. This text presents concise interpretations of the most important cultural periods and major media that can serve as a structural basis for art courses of varying aims and orientations, and be used in conjunction with other materials.
