Description:

This book describes nine caves in the greater Chattanooga area that are either currently open to the public or have been commercial caves in the past. Emphasis is on the history of each cave, from prehistoric use by American Indians, exploration by pioneer settlers, saltpeter mining during the War of 1812 and the Civil War, exploration, and commercial history.
