Description:

This book is an exhaustive compilation of the descendants of John Parker of Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware, born in 1740 and died in 1793, and his wife, Sarah Gordy of Sussex County, Delaware, born in 1743 and died in 1825. The author, Mrs. Zylks-Adcox, passed away, but not before covering descendants and related families who are still living today (2010). Chocked full of cites, sources, documents and photos, it is a genealogist's gold mine. It should be noted that Mrs. Zylks-Adcox wrote this work years before the Parker DNA Project discovered that there were two different Parker families in the same area, with many of the same given names, who were not related. The Parkers in this book are designated as Parker DNA Group #5, with the oldest known ancestor being George Parker, Sr., a millwright, the father of this John Parker. The other family, often confused with this one, is Parker DNA Group #12, traced back to England and referred to as the Parkers of Southampton, England. John Parker was a Revolutionary War Patriot, recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution, and ancestor of many DAR members.
