Description:
As the original editor of this book in Jerusalem, Israel, and as long-time friend and associate of the author, Lilli Kopecky (z"), I know this book well. It is a first-person eye-witness testimony to the Holocaust, beginning with a look at the roots of anti-Semitism and including never-before published facts and incidents. The most remarkable revelation is the time the Allies bombed Auschwitz, proving over all Allied objections to the contrary that it was indeed possible. Lilli Kopecky was a typist in the Political Department of Auschwitz and possibly the only Jew to have been in the crematoria and survived to tell about it. One of her tasks there was to gather ashes to fill urns to be sent to the families of German soldiers killed in WW II! (Shira Nahari -- shirtour@yahoo.com)
