Bruce Haywood was a professor and provost at Kenyon College in Ohio for seventeen years, then president of Monmouth College in Illinois for fourteen years. Born in 1925 in York, England, he served with army intelligence in Germany at the end of World War II, then continued his education at Leeds University. He is a 1950 graduate of McGill University in Montreal and earned a Harvard Ph.D. in 1956. His books include The Essential College and Allerton Bywater, both from XOXOX Press, and Bremerhaven. Bruce resides in Galesburg, Illinois.
