Description:
Evangelicalism is alive and well in the United States. So is public relations. And so is history. The field of public relations history has been growing alongside heightened interest in religion and mass communication and an array of historical scholarship that investigates evangelical influences in America and elsewhere. In the meantime, with the rise of Christian conservatism in American politics and media, the word evangelism has been gaining traction for some time, and it is becoming interchangeable with advocacy, albeit somewhat avid advocacy, whether for faith-based or secular purposes. In this book, then, I present a case for the influence of religion, specifically, evangelicalism, on the development of U.S. public relations. -- from preface.
